Review of Galleywood Ward

The consultant on the ward, seemed to work like a conveyor belt, the sooner you came in he wanted you back out the door, the patient was not listened to or consulted in their care, the CPA was not used, the main staff on the ward where HCA’s to which all they did was fill out pieces of paper to say where you where in the ward, but didn’t care if you wanted to talk

Suggested improvements
Listen to patients, plan follow up care, give some options if you felt you needed to go back into hospital. Instead this goes through the access team who don’t want to know

Review of Galleywood Ward
16th September 2022

Rules not always made clear to patients and Dependent on factors that are obscure to the patients. This lack of "control" and clarity on routine/rules is perceived With frustration by most of the patients. Sometimes legitimate questions like time of the review Or if it is possible to have a bath are answered with rolling eyes Or visible frustration from staff (like rolling eyes or annoyed tone of voice). When I asked if I could know the procedure to fill up A complaint, staff was "unaccomodating" with my request And visibly annoyed. When on overnight leave, all my personal items have been removed without notice and communication. Patients are not in control of the access of their own room or bathroom as the bathrooms are locked and often no key for the room is given to the patient. Staff access without knocking or waiting for response in bathroom or bedroom. Generally I felt that the environment was detrimental for my health as very stressful and noisy apart from some patients and staff.

Suggested improvements
Clarity of rules/routine and consistencies among staff. Separate loud and aggressive patients in acute phase from patients in phase of recovery. Train staff to deal with and to listen patients. Help staff to deal with their own feelings frustration and stress.

Review of Rainbow - Mother & Baby Unit
23rd June 2022

Staff lack of training and education in mental illness Poor facilities Terrible food No targeted therapy Felt drugged up rather than being treated Felt treated like a number rather than a person

Suggested improvements
Nutritional food - the brain and gut have a direct link Bathroom facilities that work Targeted therapy Compassionate and trained staff that listen and not just worried about their weekend or what’s on TV A psychiatrist with at least 10 - 15 years experience in depression AND anxiety disorders

Terrible place, been verbally diagnosed with bpd and bipolar then when they went away they decided i had ‘nothing as serious as bipolar’ (quote from a letter sent to me. Looking at the reports on why they came to the conclusion of this, I discovered that they was severe negligence as there where many wrong facts about what happened at the assessment and statements upon my clothing race etc which i found insulting. There were statements within this that where not true and this has drastically made my health worse. It didn't help that the phycatrist didn't write any notes and was almost falling asleep in the assessment- which took place at my house due to not trusting the linden centre after the first assessment and severe social anxiety. I have made two complaints against them which have not been resolved and my doctors even tried getting them to change their decision to help me, but was ignored. Will be going elsewhere. Do not trust this place!!
